As we begin our descent into the darkness of winter, it is a ripe moment to turn inward and discover the light within ourselves.
Darkness is the way of the cave and the well, of places where women have always gathered in devotion and ritual.
In this course, we will begin by sensing into bones and exploring containment within, developing greater internal safety and holding. We orient ourselves to the Earth and matter holding our vastness.
Winter and the womb are places of incubation. This is an invitation to make space and time to listen to yourself and tend to yourself amidst the business of life. Come be held, nurtured and inspired. The darkness can be a generative space of dreaming and rooting in.
Your humanness is welcome here. Your grief, disappointments and pain. Life brings its frustrations and suffering as we find our way in a systemically unjust and collapsing world.
Gathering with intention and care, being seen by others and witness to others is no small balm for the soul. Love offers light through the cracks so we should not become bitter even as our hearts break. In the group, we create space to awaken your creative spark and rediscover inner resources: within you and in the web of relationship.
Each session, there will be sharing, and time to feel, respond and reflect.
I will guide a restorative yoga sequence with attention to how the group is and what is needed. In the Womb Gaia approach I have trained in, we include and centre the pelvis, natural flowing breath, functional movement and rest. This is an energetic and functional approach that is a bit different to modern asana, taking forms and inspiration from Thai yoga, Daoist yoga and qigong, as well as making space for the intuitive movement and rhythm arising within you.

To enter the darkness, we rest in the frame of our bones.
Trusting the walls of the cave, we lose our fear of the void.
Before exploring the fertile emptiness, we sink into form and matter, to remember who we are and where we’ve come from.
When the female body is nourished with rest, rhythm and connection, your wellspring of yin begins to fill and flow.
We will turn to the water element to honour the quiet currents flowing through the emptiness of winter. We’ll gently, gradually bring movement to stagnancy, and flow to frozen terrain.. With deep respect for how things are, we meet ourselves with honesty and courage.
This course places yoga as a devotional somatic-spiritual art. It specifically draws upon feminine non-dualistic teachings that do not reject the material world as an illusion, but see life as a meaningful gift.
From my training in Womb Gaia Yoga & Bodywork therapy, there are gems of wisdom to be discovered from Bhakti, Sufi, Taoist, Tantric and Celtic traditions. We gather the pearls from different mystical love traditions, celebrating the richness of many paths.
